Men's Tennis Beats Centre College on Day Two of Spring Break

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team defeated Centre College (Ky.) 6-3 on the second day of its Spring Break trip today.

While the Blugolds won just one doubles match, they were able to capture five out of six matches in singles play to secure the overall win.

Chris Kuna (Sr.-Edina, Minn.) and Joey Minear (Fr.-Oronoco, Minn./Rochester Century) won 8-3 at No. 1 doubles to start the day.

In singles play, Blugolds won all but the No. 3 match, one that was very closely contested.

Kuna won in the No. 1 spot 7-5, 6-0 while Ryan Vande Linde (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2.

At No. 4, Minear came away with a 6-2, 6-2 win and Joe Meier (So.-Hutchinson, Minn.) won No. 5 6-1, 6-4. Michael Roden (Fr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) also picked up a 7-5, 7-5 No. 6 victory.

Eau Claire is now 12-3 on the season.

Tuesday the Blugolds will face Nebraska Wesleyan at 11:30 a.m. Eastern.
