EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team ended its regular season against UW-Platteville on Saturday afternoon. Despite a prevalent Blugold offense, UWEC was unable to break the tie and ended the campaign on a 1-1 deadlock.

Box Score

In an even matchup, both teams battled for the lead. The visitors struck through the Eau Claire defense after the Blugolds had left their opponents scoreless for 18 minutes. UWEC responded later in the 25th minute off a goal from Sydney Spencer (Jr. - Hudson, Wis.) to draw both teams even at 1 before the half. Savannah Swopes (Fr. - Janesville, Wis.) got her first assist of the year off the Spencer goal.

The home team controled possession initially in the second half, spreading the ball around and searching for a weakness in the Pioneers' defense. A Blugold goal in the 80th minute got waved off with a late offsides call, and force a 1-1 tie against the visiting squad.

Kennedy Boll (So.- Franklin, Wis.) had 1 save for the afternoon, making her final record of the season 11-5-2.

The Blugolds honored five seniors prior to the match: Alex Kraus, Maggie Conway, Sarah Kitterman, Kiki Kussow and Emma Stange.

The Blugolds (11-5-2, 4-2-2) will begin the WIAC Tournament at home on Tuesday, November 1.
