EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Eau-Claire Women's soccer team continued their homestand Wednesday night with a match against the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers. A pair of late goals by UW-Eau Claire earned them the 3-1 victory.

Box Score

The Blugolds got off to a strong start, dominating possession and scoring a goal in the 5th minute of a cross from Megan Hansen (Sr.- Andover, MN), and a soft touch pass from Molly Henderson (So.- Duluth, MN) to Sydney Spencer (Jr.- Hudson, WI) for an easy tap in with the right foot on the right side of the net. Eau Claire would continue to create opportunities to score off passes over the top and through the opposing defense. A defensive miscue by the home team would give Concordia the opportunity to get a clean shot and score to bring the game to a draw at 1-1 at the half.

Both teams battled for possession in the midfield for the first 25 minutes of the half before the Blugolds offense broke through with a shot from the top of the box by Haley Von Rentzell (Fr.- Chanhassen, MN) in the 68th minute for her first goal of the season. A few minutes later a through ball from Kori Mills (So.- Shakopee, MN), would allow Hansen an open look at the goal to put the Eau Claire lead out of reach of the Cobbers and seal the game off with a 3-1 win.

Kennedy Boll (So. – Franklin, WI) stopped three of the four shots on goal to earn the evening victory. With the win, Boll improved her season record to 5-3-1.

The Blugolds (5-3-1) will be back on the road on Saturday, October 1st as they travel to UW-Oshkosh for the start of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.
