OSHKOSH, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Eau-Claire Women's Soccer Team started their conference season on the road against the UW-Oshkosh Titans on Saturday evening. After going down 1-0 early, the resilient Blugolds responded with 2 goals and stellar defense to steal a 2-1 road victory.

After the Titans would snag an early goal, Eau Claire would dominate offensively tallying 9 shots in the first half. After multiple crossing attempts, a giveaway by the opposing defense would allow Eau Claire to get a goal in the 37th minute from Sydney Spencer (Jr.- Hudson, WI) who smashed the ball into the goal with the right foot off the left post and in off a sweet cross from Elise Pinewski (So.- Anoka, MN). Both teams would go into the half tied 1-1.

UWEC would continue to control possession through their constant ball movement through the defense and midfield. The Blugolds would get the game winner in the 54th minute off a cross from Megan Hansen (Sr.- Andover, MN), where the ball bounced off the keeper's hands and Molly Henderson (So.- Duluth, MN) punched the ball into the back of the net off the rebound near the left post. The defense would hold the Titans to 5 shots in the second half and lead Eau Claire to a 2-1 road win.

The Blugolds (6-3-1) WIAC (1-0) will continue their road stretch against Augsburg University on Wednesday, October 5th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm.
