STEVENS POINT, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Eau-Claire women's soccer team finished its road stretch against the UW-Stevens Point Pointers on Wednesday. After coming up short in the first half, UWEC found its offense and put the game out of reach with a 2-0 victory.

Box Score

The home team attacked early, rattling off shots within the first 10 minutes. The Blugold defense regained control and Eau Claire rallied back by controlling possession and getting 10 shots off crosses and corner kicks. Despite UWEC's surging offense, both teams went into the half tied 0-0.

The Blugold offense was nothing short of dominant in the second half. The visiting squad got started fast with a goal in the 46th minute by Sydney Spencer (Jr.- Hudson, WI) off a lofted pass from Haley Von Rentzell (Fr.- Chanhassen, MN). Spencer earned her second goal in the 60th minute off a through pass from Emma Stange (Sr.- Andover, MN) to put the Blugolds up 2-0. UWEC continued to create scoring opportunities off through balls from the midfield, forcing the Pointers to focus defensively. The Blugolds would hang on to shut out UWSP and walk away with a 2-0 win.

Kennedy Boll (So.- Franklin, WI) had 3 saves and forced a shutout for another win, making her season record now 9-5-1.

The Blugolds (9-5-1) WIAC (3-2) will return home for another conference matchup against UW-River Falls on Saturday, October 22nd. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00pm.
