Blugolds Get Third Straight Shutout In Another Dominant Win

DE PERE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's soccer team ended its road season against the St. Norbert College Green Knights on Sunday afternoon. The Blugolds continued their dominance as they took down the Green Knights 4-0 for their third consecutive win.

Eau Claire continued to assert its offense over opponents as Emma Stange (Sr. - Andover, Minn./Anoka) opened the scoring for the Blugolds in seventh minute off a shot outside the box and past the keeper for the early lead. Amanda Iverson (So.- La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent-Hokah) was credited with the assist. The home squad wouldn't stop there as Elise Pinewski (So. - Anoka, Minn.) continued her scoring streak with an unassisted breakaway goal in the 32nd minute to put UWEC up 2-0. Minutes before halftime, Kori Millis (So.- Shakopee, Minn) would contribute to the Eau Claire lead with a shot off the post and in, assisted by Megan Hansen (Sr. - Andover, Minn.), to go up 3-0 at the break.

UWEC continued its trend of fast starts with another score two minutes into the second half with a goal by Sydney Spencer (Jr. - Hudson, Wis.), who dribbled the ball in for the score. Sophie Hubbard (Jr. - De Pere, Wis.) earned her first assist of the season off the Spencer goal.

The Eau Claire defense came together again to post another shutout and limit the Green Knights to just six shots the whole game, and the Blugolds would walk out with their second straight 4-0 win. It was the team's third consecutive shutout. Kennedy Boll (So. - Franklin, Wis.) made two save and Alex Kraus (Jr. - Beaver Dam, Wis.) added one stop to team up for the clean sheet.

The Blugolds (11-5-1, 4-2-0) have their final game of the regular season at home against UW-Platteville on Saturday, October 29th. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
