MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (blugolds.com) – The University of Eau-Claire Women's Soccer Team continued their road stretch against the Augsburg University Eagles on Wednesday night. A tough matchup between both teams, the Blugolds' efficiency on offense proved too much for the home crowd as UWEC walked away with a 3-1 win.

Box Score

Eau Claire's defense would be put to the test right from the start as the Eagles lined up multiple shots and maintained relentless offensive pressure within the first 15 minutes. The Blugolds would break through the home team's defense with a goal in the 18th minute by Elise Pinewski (So.- Anoka, MN) who buried the ball in the top left corner off her left foot after a through ball by Emma Stange (Sr.- Andover, MN). Pinewski would strike again in the 36th minute with an unassisted goal off her right foot to put the Blugolds out in front 2-0 before the end of the half.

The Blugolds would strike again in the 55th minute with Megan Hansen (Sr.- Andover, MN) scoring on a high shot that hit the crossbar and in off another through ball from Stange to extend the visitor's lead. Eau Claire would begin to dominate possession and give few chances for the opponent to score to help close out the game. The Eagles would eventually get a late goal off a penalty kick, but the Blugolds would prevail with a 3-1 road victory.

Kennedy Boll (So.- Franklin, WI) would put together a stellar performance saving 10 of 11 shots for the win and extending her season record to 7-3-1.

The Blugolds (7-3-1) WIAC (1-0) will be back at home for more conference play against the UW-La Crosse Eagles on Saturday, October 8th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm.
