MENOMONIE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Eau-Claire Women's Soccer Team went back on the road to continue conference play against the UW-Stout Blue Devils. Despite an intense opposing offense, Eau Claire was able to hold off the home team and escape with a 1-0 win.

Box Score

The Blugold defense would stand their ground throughout the first half as the home team came out with a relentless offense but would not prevail. The Eau Claire attack would struggle to get going until later in the half when they began to get shots off of set pieces just to be stopped short by the opposing keeper. UWEC would keep the game at a 0-0 draw going into halftime.

The Blugolds got off to a quick attack, dominating possession early and keeping the ball in the attacking half. The Blue Devils would rally back just as quick getting off shots of their own to try to break through the impressive visiting defense. Eau Claire would finally break through the home team's defense in 75th minute in dramatic fashion off a wicked shot from Emma Stange (Sr.- Andover, MN/Anoka) with the right foot at the top of the box and put the ball just above the outstretched arms of the keeper for a 1-0 lead and Stange's third goal of the year. UW-Stout would get a couple more opportunities to score off free kicks, but the Blugold defense prevailed for the 1-0 victory.

Kennedy Boll (So.- Franklin, WI) would put together another impressive performance saving all the two shots on goal she faced for the win and adding to her season record of 8-4-1.

The Blugolds (8-4-1 ,WIAC 2-1) will continue their road conference play against the UW-Whitewater Warhawks on Saturday, October 15th. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00pm.
