EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) – The University of Eau-Claire Women's Soccer Team returned home Thursday for a matchup against Bethel University. An impressive first half, capped off by a defensive shutout, led the Blugolds to a 2-0 home victory.

Box Score

The Blugolds rallied early for a goal by Megan Hansen (Sr.- Andover, MN) who blasted it into the net off of a lob behind the Bethel defense from Maggie Conway (Sr. – Mount Horeb, WI) for the opening tally in the 3rd minute. The offense would stay relentless with multiple shots towards the net as Sydney Spencer (Jr.- Hudson, WI) added to the Eau Claire lead in the 37th minute after receiving a pass from Alena Tikalsky (Fr. – Lakeville, MN/North) to go into the half up 2-0.

The Blugolds kept up the intensity in the second half, dominating the possession and adding more offensive pressure off free kicks and corner kicks in the attacking half. The home team's defense would stay strong and give up only 3 shots for the entire game and shutout the opponent 2-0.

Kennedy Boll (So. – Franklin, WI) stopped the two shots on goal she faced for her fourth win of the season. Boll is now 4-3-1 on the year and recorded her third shutout of the year.

The Blugolds (4-3-1, WIAC 0-0) will continue their homestand next week on Wednesday, September 28th as they host Concordia-Moorhead (Minn). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30PM.
