The Blugolds improve to 4-8-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the WIAC while the Pointers fall to 6-7-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play.  The Blugolds have won four of their last six meetings with the Pointers.  The four-goal victory is the largest margin of victory for the Blugolds in series history and ties the most goals ever scored against the Pointers when they earned a 4-3 overtime victory on October 6, 2007.

Eau Claire got out to an early lead when forward Tara Dennehy (Jr.-Eugene, OR/Churchill) beat the Stevens Point goalie on a near-post goal from the left side of the field assisted by forward Caroline Henderson (Jr.-Duluth, MN/East) giving the Blugolds a 1-0 lead.

Henderson started the second half scoring an unassisted goal at 47:34 extending the lead to 2-0.  Forward Sami Matuszak (Fr.-Green Bay, WI/Preble) knocked in another goal at 73:57 assisted by midfielder Jocelyn Etten (So.-Elkhorn, WI) and Dennehy pushing the Blugold lead to 3-0.  Etten closed out the scoring spree recording her first goal of the year assisted by Henderson and defender Ashley O'Connell (Jr.-Appleton, WI/East).

Goalie Rachel Griffiths (So.-Waunakee, WI) saved three shots and earned her first career win and shutout.  Her season record now stands at 1-2-0.

The Blugolds close out a four-game homestand next Saturday, October 18 when they host UW-Oshkosh.  Game time is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
