Women’s Soccer Falls Short to Knights

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.  (Blugolds.com) – Wartburg College scored 8:37 into the game and the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team was unable to answer as the Knights defeated the Blugolds 2-0 here today at the Bollinger Fields.

With the setback the Blugolds are now 2-3-1 for the season while the Knights improve to 3-2-2.

Brittany Frush scored at 8:37 to give the Knights a 1-0 lead on her sixth goal of the season.  Wartburg extended their lead to 2-0 when Sara Schwarz scored her first goal of the season at 74:42.

Tara Dennehy (Jr.-Eugene, OR/Churchill) and Megan Larsen (Fr.-Appleton, WI/East) led the Blugolds taking three shots apiece.

Goalie Sammie Lefaive (Fr.-Coon Rapids, MN) saved three shots as her season record falls to 2-2-0.

Both teams totaled 11 shots for the game.  Wartburg held a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks while Eau Claire was whistled for 11 fouls compared to seven for the Knights.

Up next the Blugolds travel to Moorhead, Minnesota where they will face the 16th-ranked Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers on Sunday, September 21.  Game time is set for 2 p.m.
