Women’s Soccer Falls to Saint Benedict

EAU CLAIRE, WIS. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team was unable to score in their home debut as they fell to the College of Saint Benedict 3-0 today at the Bollinger Fields.

Saint Benedict got on the scoreboard early when Alyssa Hoffman hit the back of the net at 11:05 giving the Blazers a 1-0 lead.  Hoffman scored her second goal at 28:52 to extend the Blazer lead to 2-0.  The Blazers would add a goal at 80:53 to give the Saint Benedict a 3-0 lead.

Tara Dennehy (Jr.-Eugene, OR/Churchill) led the Blugolds with three shots.  Sammie Lefaive (Fr.-Coon Rapids, MN) finished the game with three saves.

For the game Saint Benedict outshot Eau Claire 10-8.  Both teams totaled three corner kicks.  The Blazers were whistled for 12 fouls compared to seven by Eau Claire.

The Blugolds return to action this Wednesday, September 10 as they host St. Olaf College.  The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
