EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire soccer team overcame a late deficit to tie Carleton College (Minn.) 1-1 this afternoon at the Bollinger Fields.

Despite a combined 11 shots in the first half, neither Eau Claire nor Carleton got on the board until the closing minutes of regulation.

Carleton struck first, sinking in a goal 81:56 into the game. Down but not out, Paige LeGate (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) kept Blugold hopes alive with a goal just under five minutes later. With the assist from Katie Richter (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./West), the goal tied up the game and pushed the match into overtime.

Neither team managed another shot in the two overtime periods, ending the game in the 1-1 tie. In total, the Blugolds just barely outshot Carleton 8-7. Nina Behrenbrinker (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) guarded the Eau Claire goal the entire 110 minutes and recorded three saves.

Eau Claire now owns a 9-4-2 overall record and a solid 5-1-1 home record.

The Blugolds will take on UW-La Crosse at home next Saturday, Oct. 22 for Senior Day. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
