EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – It took just over 101 minutes, but the UW-Eau Claire soccer team scored the only goal of the game to prevail 1-0 over the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) today at Bollinger Fields.

Brittany Burant (Sr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) knocked in the winning shot just over a minute into the second overtime period. The goal – her fourth of the year – was unassisted and handed the Blugolds their fifth shutout win of the season.

Prior to the winning goal, the Blugolds and the Tommies were locked in a scoreless battle. Eau Claire outshot St. Thomas 11-5, but all five previous shots on the Tommie net were unsuccessful. Nina Behrenbrinker (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) guarded the net for the Blugolds for the entire game and recorded two saves.

Eau Claire now holds an 8-3-1 overall record. The win is the team's fourth consecutive.

The Blugolds will host two more home games this week to conclude a five-match home stand. Eau Claire will next take on UW-River Falls at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday at Bollinger Fields.
