Soccer Streak Ends with Loss to Concordia-Moorhead

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire soccer team's five-match win streak – and perfect home record – came to an end today with a 2-0 loss to Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) at Bollinger Fields.

Despite outshooting the Cobbers 11-4, the Blugolds didn't score for just the third time this season. Eau Claire blasted eight shots in the first period, but couldn't find the back of the net. All four of Concordia-Moorhead's shots came in the second period, with goals slipping past the Blugold defenses at the 62:35 and 80:21 marks.

Brittany Burant (Sr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) led the Blugolds with three shots on the day while Katie Richter (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./West) and Sam Gilbert (Jr.-Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) each contributed two shots on goal. Nina Behrenbrinker (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) played the entire game and recorded one save in the defeat.

Eau Claire falls to 9-4-1 on the season while Concordia improves to 7-1-3 overall. The Blugolds will return to conference play with a match at UW-Stout this Wednesday evening. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
