EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's soccer coach Sean Yengo reached his 200th victory as the Blugolds defeated Macalester College (Minn.) 3-0 at the Bollinger Fields today.

Yengo, in his 15th year as head coach, holds an overall record of 200-83-25. His 200 wins ranks second all-time in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The Blugolds, who have only shut out Macalester one other time in the series (1-0 win in 1994), scored two first half goals and added a third in the second half.

Eva Popp (So.-Wauwatosa, Wis./West) found the back of the Scots' net at 34:45 on an assist from Emily Turi (So.-North St. Paul, Minn.). Less than two minutes later, Katie Richter (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./West) scored the Blugolds' second goal with a shot that banked off the post, just out of reach for the goalkeeper.

Just 35 seconds into the second half, Brittany Burant (Sr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH) pushed the Blugolds' lead to three, with a goal on a header. Teighlor Tvedt (Fr.-Verona, Wis./Verona Area) assisted on the score.

The Blugolds outshot the Scots 20-5, 10 of which were on-goal while Macalester had none. Nina Behrenbrinker (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) had a quiet day in the net as she played all 90 minutes without facing a shot.

While Macalester has been shut out three times this season, today was the first time since September 5, 2006 the Scots had no shots on-goal.

Eau Claire is now 7-3-1 on the season while Macalester is also 7-3-1.

The Blugolds will be home again Wednesday for a game against the University of St. Thomas (Minn.). Action is set to get underway at 4 p.m. at the Bollinger Fields.
