Soccer Ends St. Olaf's Six-Game Winning Streak

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team ended St. Olaf College's (Minn.) six-game winning streak with a 0-0 tie in two overtimes at Rolf Mellby Field today.

The Blugolds (4-2-1) finished outshooting St. Olaf 8-3, with seven shots on goal compared to two for the Oles.

Paige LeGate (So.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) and Katie Richter (Jr.-Waukesha, Wis./West) led the Blugolds with two shots each. Three Blugold shots were made at point-blank range with less than 10 minutes to play in regulation, but St. Olaf's goalkeeper stopped each one.

Nina Behrenbrinker (So.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) played all 110 minutes in-goal and stopped two shots.

The tie against the Oles was the first in the series history. The Blugolds lead the overall series 10-6-1.

Next up, the Blugolds will be at UW-Oshkosh for a 1 p.m. game against the Titans.
