EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's tennis team hosted UW-Stevens Point on Saturday afternoon at the Olson Outdoor Tennis Courts. After taking a 2-1 in doubles, the Blugolds swept the Pointers in singles for an 8-1 victory.
Lindsey Henderson (Jr.-Prior Lake, MN) and Elaine Franta (So.-White Bear Lake, MN) got back in the win column with a dominant 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Morgan Nelson (Fr.-Beaver Dam, WI) and Natalie Girard (Jr.-Kenosham WI/St. Joseph) edged out Kaitlyn Hess (UWSP) and Leah Hollander (UWSP) in their win at No. 3 doubles, 8-5.
In the singles, Alexa Brooks (Jr.-Beaver Dam, WI) won a game three tiebreaker for a team point at the No. 3 matchup. Nelson also won an even match at No. 4 singles, 7-5, 7-6. The rest of the singles saw the Blugolds walk away with two-game victories.
The Blugolds will be back on the court next Saturday, April 10th when they travel to UW-Whitewater.
