Women's Basketball announces team awards

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's basketball team has announced their team awards for the 2019-2020 season.

Senior Hallee Hoeppner (Sr. – Winona, MN) earned team Most Valuable Player and Blugold Award honors. The senior had a stellar senior year, earning First Team All-WIAC honors in addition to being named a WBCA All-American. Hoeppner was also named the WIAC's Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete

Katie Essen (Jr.-Farmington, MN/Rosemount) was named Defensive Player of the Year. The junior pulled down 4.4 rebounds per game along with tallying 21 steals and 8 blocks while anchoring the Blugold defense.

Newcomer Jessie Ruden (Fr.-Rochester, MN/John Marshall) was tabbed as the Rookie of the Year and Most Improved. Ruden averaged 8 points per game and 24.5 minutes in her first season as a Blugold. She also dished out 55 assists and tallied 27 steals and 6 blocks.

The Blugolds finished their 2019-20 campaign with an overall record of 18-10 and 10-4 in conference play.
