Men's Tennis Wins Two Weekend Contests at Home

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team wrapped up the home portion of its 2013 schedule winning two contests on the Ade Olson Indoor Courts this weekend.

Friday, the Blugolds defeated the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) 8-1 and followed with an 8-1 victory over Bethel University (Minn.) on Sunday.

Four Blugolds went undefeated in singles play while two doubles pairs won both of their matches this weekend.

At No. 1 singles, Ryan Vande Linde (Jr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won in straight sets twice. Facing St. Scholastica, he won 6-4, 6-2 while winning 6-0, 6-3 against Bethel.

Joe Meier (Jr.-Hutchinson, Minn.) won at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 7-5 Friday and 6-0, 6-1 Sunday. He has now won eight singles matches in a row, improving to 11-3 on the season.

In the No. 3 spot, Florent Marco (Sr.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won in straight sets twice, 6-2, 6-4 Friday and 6-4, 6-4 Sunday.

Brayden Parman (Jr.-Beaver Dam, Wis.) was the other Blugold to win twice this weekend, at No. 5 singles Friday and at No. 6 Sunday. He won 6-2, 6-4 facing St. Scholastica and 6-2, 6-2 against Bethel.

In doubles play, David Stingley (Sr.-St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park) and Michael Roden (So.-Eau Claire, Wis./Memorial) won 8-1 both Friday and Sunday at No. 2 while Marco and Kyle Hoffmann (Fr.-Franklin, Wis.) won 8-4 Friday and 8-3 Sunday in the No. 3 spot. Stingley and Roden have won eight straight to improve to 12-2 on the season. Marco and Hoffmann are 15-2 this season.

Eau Claire is now 14-5 on the season.

The Blugolds have six more matches remaining during the regular season, three of them next weekend. They will be at Luther College (Iowa) on Friday and will play two opponents in Madison Sunday.
