Four Blugolds earn CSCAA All-America honors

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) selected its Division III All-American team with four Blugolds claiming honors.

CSCAA Release

Earning honors for the Blugolds were Dylan Glumac-Berberich (Sr. – Fridley, MN), Collin Miller (Sr.—Rochester, MN/ Schaeffer Academy), Martin Kocher (Fr.—Saint Paul, MN/Johnson) and Michael Bylander (So.—Baxter, MN/Brainerd).

Glumac-Berberich and Martin both earned a spot in the national championship meet in the one and three meter dives while Bylander was set to compete in the 200 breaststroke. Miller had qualified in three events, the 100 breaststroke, 100 freestyle and 200 IM.

Due to the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship, the CSCAA Board adjusted the selection criteria for each Division.  In Division III, selections are based upon those individuals and relays selected to the championship and are members of the CSCAA.

This isn't the first time the association has adjusted All-America criteria. The first CSCAA All-America team was published in 1924, thirteen years before the first men's NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship. The first women's All-America team was published in 1975, seven years prior to the first NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship. During much of that time, the team was selected by a panel of coaches. In 1985 the honor was standardized around the NCAA Championships with the top eight finalists receiving first-team recognition and consolation finalists being named Honorable Mention.

"Despite the cancellation of the NCAA Championships, Coach Ryder did a remarkable job this season," explained Greg Earhart, Executive Director of the CSCAA. These four student-athletes had the rug pulled out from them this season, so we are excited to recognize them."
