EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's hockey head coach Mike Collins recently announced the team award winners for the 2011-12 season.
Toni Simones (Sr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) was selected as the Blugold Award recipient. Simones was second on the team with 16 points. She was also second on the team with nine goals while her seven assists ranked fourth. She had three game-winning goals this season, ranked fourth-best in a single season in program archives. Simones ended her career ranked fifth on the Blugolds' career scoring list with 66 points and is 10th with 25 goals and fourth with 41 assists. She was also tied for first in most games played in a career with 104.
Presented with the student-athlete award was Emily Haluska (Jr.-Stevens Point, Wis./SPASH). She was fifth on the team with 11 points, coming from six goals and five assists. Her six goals ranked third-best on the team.
Both Simones and Haluska were named to the NCHA's All-Academic Team for the second time in their careers this year.
