Women's Hockey Falls to St. Norbert

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team was not able to carry the momentum from last night's win into today's game, as it lost to St. Norbert College 1-4 at the Cornerstone Community Center's Resch Olympic Pavilion in Green Bay.

St. Norbert came out ready to play and scored three goals in the first period.  Andrea Senne scored the first goal of the day for the Green Knights at 11:51.  Ali Parker followed that up 19 seconds later with what ended up being the game winning goal.  Jade Popescul scored on the power play to end the first period.  The Knights scored their fourth goal in the third period. 

To avoid the shutout, defender Emily Larson (So.-Bemidji, Minn./Bemidjiwas able to put one on the board for the Blugolds in the 3rd period on an unassisted long shot with 5:09 left on the clock.  It was her first goal of the season.

The Blugolds were 0-4 on the power play and were outshot 26-32.  They fall to 1-4-1 on the season and 1-3 in NCHA conference play.

Morgan Pieper (Sr.-Williams, Minn./Warroad) got the loss in goal for the Blugolds.  She gave up four goals, but did get 28 saves on the day. 

The Blugolds will be on the road again as they will travel to Lake Forest College next weekend to face the Foresters.  Game action will start at 7 p.m. Friday night.
