Women's Hockey Ends Weekend Trip With Tie

MEQUON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team ended its weekend trip to Ozaukee Ice Center with a 2-2 overtime tie with Concordia Univeristy (Wis.).

The Falcons got on the board first scoring the first goal at 11:12 in the first period.

Team captain Casey McMullen (Jr. – Minneapolis, Minn./South) had a great second period scoring two goals for the Blugolds.  Her first goal was an unassisted shot that found the back of the net at 7:38 to tie the game up 1-1.  Falcon player Muriel McIntyre got called for slashing and with 30 seconds left on the two minute power play McMullen got her second goal of the night on an assist from Emily Larson (So.-Bemidji, Minn./Bemidji).  The goal put the Blugolds on top 2-1.

The Blugolds were down a player in the third period, after Sam Knutson (Fr.-North St. Paul, Minn./North St. Paul) was called for high sticking when the Falcons tied it back up at 2-2.  The tie remained when the final buzzer rang.

Mara Stormer (Jr. – Waunakee, Wis.) got the tie for the Blugolds.  She had 45 saves on the day.

The Blugolds (6-11-4) travel to UW-Superior for a NCHA matchup next weekend.  Game action gets started Friday night at 7 p.m.
