McMullen Earns NCHA Player of the Week Honors

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's hockey player Casey McMullen (Minneapolis, Minn./ South) has been named Player of the Week in the NCHA Women's Conference for the week ending January 30.  McMullen scored three of the Blugolds' four goals last weekend in a win and tie against Concordia-Wisconsin.

NCHA's Weekly Release

Last Friday night McMullen was part of a two-goal second period that proved the difference in a 2-0 UW-Eau Claire victory. Toni Simones (Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) scored at 5:45 and McMullen repeated the feat 17 seconds later.

On Saturday McMullen lit the lamp during the second period again, this time scoring twice. With her team trailing 1-0, she scored an unassisted goal at 7:38. And then at 14:03 she put the Blugolds up with a power play goal. The 2-1 lead stood until early in the third, when the Falcons scored the equalizer that would send the game to an overtime tie.

The three goals on the weekend increased McMullen's season goal total to eight. She has 13 points in 21 games played on the year and has recorded at least a point in four of her last six games.
