Women's Hockey Drops Weekend Series at Lake Forest

Women's Hockey Drops Weekend Series at Lake Forest

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Blugolds.com) – While the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team jumped out to the early lead at Lake Forest College, the Blugolds could not hold on and fell 4-1 today.

Casey McMullen (Jr.-Minneapolis, Minn./South) put up the first score of the game as she found the back of the net, unassisted, at 9:31 in the first period on a power-play.

But that was all the scoring Eau Claire would get and Lake Forest finished with four unanswered goals to sweep the weekend series against the Blugolds. Lake Forest tied the game up with a goal in the second period and added three more in the third period.

Lake Forest edged the Blugolds in shot attempts with 34 to Eau Claire's 29. Mara Stormer (Jr.-Waunakee, Wis.) played the entire game between the pipes for Eau Claire and saved 30 shots.

The Blugolds drop to 1-6-1 on the season and 1-5 in conference play. Lake Forest improves to 6-2-1 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

Eau Claire will take next weekend off and will be back on the ice when it hosts Adrian College (Mich.) for a weekend series December 2 and 3. Action will get underway both nights at 7 p.m.
