EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire softball, baseball, and women's lacrosse teams have released their schedules for their 2023 seasons.

After capturing its seventh WIAC Tournament championship and making its 13th appearance in the NCAA Tournament last year, the softball team looks returns to the field with high aspirations. The Blugolds open their 2023 season with a weekend of games at the MSU Maverick Dome on the campus of Minnesota State University, Mankato. UWEC will face 2022 regionally ranked Bethel University, Gustavus Adolphus, Hamline, and St. Olaf on Feb. 25-26. The following weekend (Mar. 4-5) features a trip to Rochester, Minn., where the Blugolds will hold rematches against St. Olaf and Gustavus Adolphus, along with a single game against Grinnell at the RCTC Dome.
UW-Eau Claire will return to the central Florida area for the 2023 Spring Games on March 19-23. The Blugolds will play eight games in five days as they face off against St. Catherine, Tufts, Kalamazoo, Hamilton, Grinnell, Carleton and Hope. All games will be played at the Diamondplex Field in Winter Haven, Fla. After their return from down south, a weekend road trip to Iowa awaits the Blugolds with doubleheaders against Central (Apr. 1) and Luther (Apr. 2).
The softball team will host their 2023 home opener on Tuesday, April 4, against Northwestern-St. Paul. Immediately following their first home contest, UWEC will enter Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play on Friday, April 7 with a trip to Menomonie, Wis., to face UW-Stout. A stretch of road WIAC games lasts until Saturday, April 29, when the Blugolds host their final three WIAC doubleheaders at Bollinger Field. The regular season will end with a pair of regionally ranked teams playing at Bollinger Field as Saint Benedict comes to Eau Claire on Saturday, May 6. The WIAC Tournament begins Friday, May 12.
The baseball team will look to continue its upward trend this spring. The Blugolds went 14-26 last spring, their second season of play since the renewal of the program in 2021. UW-Eau Claire begins the season with a trip to Millington, Tenn., where games against Rhodes, Wabash and Augustana (Ill.) await from Feb. 17-19. After returning from Tennessee, the Blugolds are off until March 14, when they face Rockford at Minneapolis' US Bank Stadium. A spring break trip to Auburndale, Fla., follows from March 18-22, with games against UW-Superior, Purchase State, Union College (N.Y.), Hope College (Mich.) and Hobart on tap.
UW-Eau Claire opens WIAC play on March 25 with a four-game series at UW-Whitewater. A doubleheader against UW-Stout on April 1 serves as the home opener for the Blugolds. They also have home series against UW-Oshkosh (April 7-8), Finlandia (April 22-23) and UW-Stevens Point (April 29-30) this spring. The regular season schedule concludes with a home game against Carleton on May 8.
The women's lacrosse team is coming off a 13-2 season. The Blugolds' third campaign in program history opens on Feb. 10, when they travel to Georgetown, Tex., for a two-game series against Southwestern University. After those contests on Feb. 10 and 12, the Blugolds are off until March 4, when they visit UW-River Falls. UW-Eau Claire's home opener is set for March 11 against Beloit at Simpson Field at 1 p.m.
The Blugolds also host UW-Stout (April 5), UW-River Falls (April 10), Northwestern-St. Paul (April 12) and UW-La Crosse (April 26) this season. The regular season slate wraps up with road games against Concordia University Chicago and the Northwestern University B Team on April 29 and 30.
