Three Blugolds named WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (blugolds.com) — Three University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student-athletes received Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week honors this week. Women's hockey forward Hallie Sheridan (Sr. - Fergus Falls, Minn.), women's swimmer Ella Weaver (Jr. - McFarland, Wis.) and men's diver Quincy Kabe (Jr. - Buffalo, Minn.) were all recognized as the top performers in their respective sports.

Sheridan tallied three points as the Blugolds skated past Northland College (Wis.) 6-0 on Nov. 30. She scored one goal and assisted two others. Sheridan assisted the Blugolds' second and fourth goals of the game and found the back of the net herself late in the second period. She put pressure on the LumberJills defense by firing off five shots over the course of the game.

Weaver recorded two top-five finishes at the Rochester (Minn.) Invitational, which included teams from Division I, Division II and Division III. She was third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.47, finishing only behind two Division I athletes. Her 100-yard breaststroke time also sits as a top 25 time in the nation, coming as the 22nd-fastest swim in the country. Weaver was third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.94, finishing only behind two Division I athletes. She also helped the 200-yard medley team with a time of 1:48.27 and 400-yard medley team with a time of 3:57.30 to a sixth- and fifth-place finish, respectively. Both medley relay times are conference-leading times and were the top finishes by a Division III team at the meet.

Kabe finished first on both boards at the Rochester (Minn.) Invitational. He beat out Division I and Division II athletes for the win on both boards. Kabe had a huge last dive in the one-meter event to come from behind and win by 0.1 points over the second-place finisher. He scored 448.00 on the one-meter and 482.55 on the three-meter. His scores on both boards lead the conference.
