MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Carolyn Shult, Clare Palen, Samantha Fuchs, Sarah Dahlk, and Quincy Kabe have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 10 - 16.
Carolyn Shult (Sr., Augusta, Wis./Augusta) finished sixth of 244 runners to lead the Blugolds to a fifth-place finish out of 25 teams at the Augustana College (Ill.) Interregional Invitational, which included 11 nationally ranked teams. She covered the 6,000-meter distance in 21:29, which is 42 second personal best.
Playing against a number of the top NCAA Division III competition in the country, Samantha Fuchs (So., DeForest, Wis./DeForest) and Clare Palen (Jr., Rochester, Minn./Lourdes) went 1-2 at the ITA Cup in Rome, Ga. They defeated a team from Trinity University (Texas) 6-4, 2-6, (10) to sandwich narrow losses to duos from Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.) (6-4, 6-3) and Bowdoin College (Maine) (7-5, 6-2). Fuchs and Palen also posted an 8-1 victory at No. 1 singles against UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 15.
Sarah Dahlk (Sr., Verona, Wis./Middleton) won both boards in a 185-45 victory against UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 15. She won the one-meter with a score of 248.77 and three-meter event with a score of 238.12.
Quincy Kabe (Jr., Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo) won both boards against UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 15. He secured the one-meter board with a NCAA Diving Zone qualifying score of 315.30. He was victorious in the three-meter event with another NCAA Diving Zone qualifying score of 321.52.
