RIVER FALLS, WI (blugolds.com) The UW-Eau Claire Women's Lacrosse team traveled to UW-River Falls to take on the Falcons in a Wednesday night match-up. The Blugolds suffered their first loss of the season 17-6.
UW-Eau Claire had a defensive focused first quarter while trying to slow down the Falcons offense. There were 11 shots on goal in the first quarter, goalie Alexandria Shea (Fr.-Kenosha, WI) had four saves to start the game. The Blugolds came out strong in the second quarter with two unassisted goals by Ruby Pozorski (Fr.-Burnsville, MN) and Samantha Burns (Fr.-Mahtomedi, MN). Eau Claire went into half down 4-9 with 12 shots on goals and eight saves. The second half was a defensive battle for the Blugolds with the Falcons having 14 shots on goal. Burns and Riley Domagala (So.-Bloomington, MN) added two more goals for the Blugolds ending the third quarter 6-13. Burns and Pozorski led the Blugolds with two goals a piece while the Blugolds fell to the Falcons in the final quarter.
