EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau women's basketball team has announced their end of the year team awards after their historic 2021-22 season.
After the Blugolds memorable dominating season in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) tournament and NCAA tournament runs, the team has released their team awards as voted on by the players and staff.
Jessie Ruden (Jr. – Rochester, MN/John Marshall) was named the team Most Valuable Player during the season after leading the Blugolds and the WIAC with 18.8 points per game, 77 three-point field goals made and 36.2 minutes per contest. Ruden also hit a career milestone during the WIAC title game with 31-points to help UWEC defeat UW-Whitewater, 77-63.
The Defensive Player of the Year award went to Jade Ganski (So. – Rothschild, WI/Newman Catholic) who also won the team Rookie of the Year award a season ago. Ganski finished the season first in the WIAC in blocks (90) and second in defensive rebounding (171).
Courtney Crouch (Jr. – White Bear Lake, MN) was named the team's Most Improved Player in her pivotal role on the floor averaging just under 31 minutes per game. Crouch was third on the team with 11.4 points per game and 342 total points during the 2021-22 season.
The Rookie of the Year Award was given to Kylie Mogen (So. – Menomonie, WI) in her first year at UW-Eau Claire. Mogen ranked third on the Blugolds roster with 141 rebounds and was fourth overall in points per game (8.1) and second in blocks (28).
Ellie Clayton (Sr. – Lakeville, MN/South) was named the Blugold Award winner. She was also named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship team back in March.
