Gina Williams Earns Academic All-American Honors

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's soccer player Gina Williams (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Verona Area) has been named to the 2012 Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-America Women's Soccer Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Williams is majoring in kinesiology and maintains a 3.82 grade point average.

Williams led the Blugolds and tied for first in the WIAC with 31 goals this season, a mark that ranked 10th best in program history for most points in a single season. She also led the Blugolds and WIAC with 14 goals and tied for first in the conference with five game-winners.

She becomes the 38th Blugold in history to be named to a CoSIDA Academic All-America Team. The 38 Blugolds have combined for a total of 49 awards. Williams is just the second Blugold women's soccer player named to the team, the first being Kari Blasczyk in 2000, who was an At-Large selection for soccer.
