Gina Williams Named to Academic All-District Soccer Team

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's soccer player Gina Williams (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Verona Area) has been selected to the 2012 Capital One NCAA Division III Academic All-District Six Women's Soccer First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Williams is majoring in kinesiology and maintains a 3.82 grade point average.

This season, Williams led the team while she was tied for first in the league with 31 points, which is also ranked 10th best in program history for most points in a single season. She also led the WIAC and the Blugolds with 14 goals while she was tied for first in the conference with five game-winning goals.

Because she was selected to the All-District first team, Williams is now eligible to be named to the Academic All-America squad that will be announced Nov. 27.

In order to be eligible for the Academic All-America program, nominees must: be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials; have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) in both undergrad and graduate work; have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and completed at least one calendar year at the institution; and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
