MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – UW-Eau Claire women's soccer player Gina Williams (Sr.-Madison, Wis./Verona) has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week for offense, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Williams scored two goals during the week as the Blugolds beat UW-Stout 2-0 on Sept. 12, while coming up short 2-1 to UW-Whitewater on Sept 15. Facing the Blue Devils, Williams found the back of the goal at 58:42 to give UW-Eau Claire a 2-0 lead. She also picked up the assist on the Blugolds' first goal of the game. Against the Warhawks, the Blugolds were down 2-0 before Williams cut the lead to one at 57:36 with a goal. She now has five points on the season.
