Soccer Falls 1-0 at Carleton College

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team gave up one second-half goal to Carleton College (Minn.) and was unable to overcome the deficit in the 1-0 loss at Bell Field today.

In the first half, the Blugolds and Knights played nearly even with Carleton recording six shots and the Blugolds finishing with five. Neither team could find the back of the net, however.

In the second half, despite the Blugolds outshooting the Knights 4-2, a shot by Carleton's Ellie Wilson found the goal and gave the Knights a 1-0 lead at the 60:34. The one goal proved to be enough to hand the Blugolds the loss.

Nina Behrenbrinker (Jr.-St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) played goalkeeper the entire day for Eau Claire and finished with four saves.

The Blugolds are now 14-6-2 all-time against Carleton. The last time the Blugolds defeated the Knights was in 2008.

Eau Claire falls to 0-3 on the season while Carleton improves to 3-0.

Saturday, the Blugolds will open a seven-game home stand with a contest against the College of Saint Benedict (Minn.). Action at the Bollinger Fields will get underway at 1 p.m.
