Women's Hockey Falls at Adrian Again

ADRIAN, Mich. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team was swept this weekend facing Adrian College (Mich.) after falling 3-0 today at Arrington Ice Arena.

Eau Claire, which lost 3-2 last night, did manage to outshoot the Bulldogs today, finishing with 23 to Adrian's 18. The Blugolds committed six penalties but Adrian didn't score on any of the power-plays.

While the first period was scoreless, Adrian notched two goals in the second. The Bulldogs scored once at 6:19 and again at 8:39. They added an insurance goal at 4:43 in the third.

Mara Stormer (So.-Waunakee, Wis.) and Jordyn Quiring (Fr.-Calgary, Alberta/Edge School) split time in the goal. Stormer stopped seven shots while allowing two goals and Quiring gave up one goal while saving eight shots.

This was the first time in nearly a year the Blugolds were shutout. The last time they failed to score was February 20, 2010 in a 1-0 loss at UW-Superior.

Eau Claire is now 12-7-4 overall and 9-6-3 in the conference. Adrian improves to 14-6-3 on the season and 12-3-3 in NCHA play.

The Blugolds will wrap up the regular season next weekend at the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.). The puck will drop Friday at 7 p.m. while Saturday's game will get underway at 3 p.m.
