Faber Receives AHCA All-American Honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's hockey forward Kristin Faber (Sr.-Austin, Minn.) has been named a 2011 Division III Reebok Women's Hockey All-American, the American Hockey Coaches Association recently announced.

The All-American selection is the first for the Blugolds in the program's 11 years.

Faber, who earned a first team accolades in the west, is among just 18 players from around the country to have been named to the All-American team. Of the 18, 12 were first team selections while six were second team honorees.

Faber received a number of awards this season as she wrapped up her career with the Blugolds. She was named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Player of the Year along with receiving the league's Scholar-Athlete award. It was the first time in a conference history a player received both awards in the same year.

Faber led the Blugolds with 32 points this season (22 goals, 10 assists). In the Blugolds' season archives, her 32 points ranks second only behind her mark of 34 that she achieved last season. Her 22 goals is a school record for most in a season. Faber also holds a number of career school records, including 113 points and 67 goals.

The Reebok Hockey All-American Ice Hockey Teams are sponsored by Reebok Hockey, an international leader in hockey equipment, and chosen by members of the American Hockey Coaches Association. Due to the number of teams regionally, the coaches have established two East teams and one West team.
