Women's Hockey Splits Weekend Series with St. Norbert

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team split a weekend series with St. Norbert College after earning a 4-2 win over the Green Knights at Hobbs Ice Center tonight.

The Blugolds, who fell 3-1 last night against St. Norbert, scored two goals in the second period and two goals in the third to record the victory.

St. Norbert struck first with a goal just two minutes into the contest. Karissa Anderson scored the unassisted goal. The Green Knights also scored with eight seconds remaining in the game. Andrea Senne picked up the goal on an assist from Tarraneh Dadgar.

In the second period at 2:45, Toni Simones (Jr.-Rosemount, Minn./South St. Paul) struck for Eau Claire to tie it up at 1-1. Kristin Faber (Sr.-Austin, Minn.) assisted on the goal.

Just over two minutes later, Faber scored a goal of her own, unassisted, to give the Blugolds a one-goal advantage. The goal was her second of the season.

Eau Claire added two more goals in the third period, the first from Dani Kerr (So.-Little Canada, Minn./Roseville) at 15:03 on an assist from Kelli Johnson (Sr.-Farmington, Minn.) as the Blugolds were short-handed.

Two minutes later the Blugolds struck again with Allison Malecek (So.-Maple Plain, Minn./Delano) scoring her first goal of the season with an assist from Kerr.

Mara Stormer (So.-Waunakee, Wis.) was in the Blugold goal for all 60 minutes and recorded 15 saves on the night. The Blugolds outshot the Green Knights 35-17.

Eau Claire will be back at home Tuesday night for a non-conference game against Bethel University (Minn.). The puck is set to hit center ice at Hobbs at 7 p.m.
