Women's Outdoor Track & Field Competes in Three Different States

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - With the team split up in three different meets in three different states, the UW-Eau Claire women's outdoor track and field competed and had some notable performances throughout the weekend.

The Blugolds were represented at the Drake Relays Friday in Des Moines, Iowa, the Gina Relays Friday in Hillsdale, Mich., and the St. Mary's University Invitational in Winona, Minn. on Saturday.

At St. Mary's, where the majority of the team competed, Taylor Wirth (So.-Appleton, Wis./North) was the lone Blugold winner of the weekend as she won the 400-meter hurdle race in a time of 1:04.80.

Sage Karl (So.-Frederic, Wis.) took second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.10 seconds. 

The Blugolds got a top-four finish at the prestigious distance meet at the Gina Relays as Ashlyn Mauer (Sr.-Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) took fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:37.98.  After her big performance, she is now ranked second in the NCAA Division III.

The Blugolds were also represented at the prestigious Drake Relays over the weekend, with the highest finish coming from the 4x200-meter relay team of Carly Fehler (So.-Oak Creek, Wis.), Jessica Rupnow (Fr.-Sussex, Wis./Hamilton), Megan Mulligan (So.-Lake Geneva, Wis./Badger) and Lindsey Laufenberg (So.-Waunakee, Wis.).  The Blugold quartet placed fifth with a time of 1:42.55.

The Blugolds now gear up for the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet starting Friday in La Crosse.  Competition is set to start at noon on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
