Women's Track & Field Announces Team Award Winners

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's track and field head coach Chip Schneider recently announced the winners of the 2013 team awards.

Erin Schoenfelder (Sr.-Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) was named team MVP. Schoenfelder won three All-American honors this season (two outdoor, one indoor) brining her career total to five. She took fifth in the 60-meter hurdles at indoor nationals after winning the conference title in the event. During the outdoor season, Schoenfelder won the 100-meter hurdles at the conference championship while taking sixth in the 400-meter hurdles at nationals. She was also part of a team that took sixth place at outdoor nationals in the 4x400-meter relay. Schoenfelder set school records in the 60-meter indoor and 400-meter outdoor hurdles this year while also being part of a school record in the 4x400-meter indoor relay. She also won the Elite 89 Award at indoor nationals, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing at each national championship.

Newcomer of the Year honors went to Jessica Rupnow (Fr.-Sussex, Wis./Sussex-Hamilton) and Jessie Reineck (Fr.-Greenville, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran).

Rupnow was part of the sixth place outdoor nationals 4x400-meter relay team to earn All-American honors in her first year with the team. She was part of the 4x100-meter relay team that took second along with the 4x400-meter relay team that took third at the WIAC Outdoor Championship.

Reineck was part of two school record relay teams during the indoor season, the 4x200-meter and the 4x400-meter relays. She was part of the 4x200-meter relay team that took second along with the 4x400-meter relay team that took third at the WIAC Indoor Championship.
