Blugolds Place 6th at Rochester Invitational

Rochester, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire swimming and diving team competed at the Rochester Invite over the weekend. The men came away with a second place finish out of ten teams with a team score of 1499 points, while the women finished sixth out of 15 teams scoring 624 points.

Collin Miller (Sr.—Rochester, MN/ Schaeffer Academy) had an outstanding weekend for the Blugolds.  On Friday in the men's 400-yard Medley Relay Miller's breastroke split was the fastest split (54.20) in the meet and recorded the fastest split in D3 this year.  It didn't end there for the senior as he continued to grow his performance on Saturday, breaking his own school record in the 50-yard Free (20.16) and winning that event. His 100-yard Breaststroke time (53.61) is the top time in the country. Miller also broke the NCAA national record in the 100-yard IM with a time of 49.23 which also was the top time in the event and then went on to win the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:49.77 making him 4-4 on individual events in the meet. 

Dylan Glumac-Beberich (Sr.—Fridley, MN) also had a great weekend for the Blugolds.  The senior won both the 1-meter (542.95) and 3-meter (497.30) dives at the Rochester Invite this past weekend, contributing heavily to the men's second place finish out of 10 total teams.  Glumac- Berberich made NCAA zone cuts on both boards, and his 1-meter dive score is currently the top score in the country. 

Other top finishes for the Blugolds men:  

Michael Bylander (So.—Baxter, MN/ Brainerd)- 3rd place finish in the men's 100-yard back (52.30), a 2nd place finish in the men's 100-yard IM (52.55), and a 4th place finish in the 200-yard IM (1:58.35).

Sam Ryf (Fr.—Berlin, WI)- 6th place finish in the men's 200 yard fly (1:59.83)

 

Top finishes for the Blugold women:

Paige Pelikan (So.New Berlin, WI/ West) - Pelikan had 3 top 24 finishes in the 200-yard free, the 500-yard free and the 1650-yard free this weekend.  The sophomore led the Blugolds in all of her events.

Sarah Dahlk (So.—Verona, WI/ Middleton)- Dahlk was the top diver for UWEC this weekend placing 10th with a score of (326.70) in the 3-meter dive
