MOORHEAD, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – In the first of four-straight road games, the UW-Eau Claire women's soccer team lost 2-0 to 16th-ranked Concordia-Moorhead here today at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex.
With the loss the Blugolds fall to 2-4-1 while the Cobbers improve to 7-1.
Concordia scored at 4:22 on a goal by Rochelle Hickerson giving the Cobbers an early 1-0 lead. Hickerson struck again in the second half scoring her second goal at 76:04 extending the Cobber lead to 2-0.
Tara Dennehy (Jr.-Eugene, OR/Churchill) led the Blugolds with two shots. Caroline Henderson (Jr.-Duluth, MN/East) took the other Blugold shot.
Eau Claire was outshot 9-3. Both teams were called for seven fouls. Concordia held a 6-4 advantage on corner kicks.
Goalie Sammie Lefaive (Fr.-Coon Rapids, MN) saved four shots on the day. Her season record now stands at 2-3-0.
Up next the Blugolds travel to Illinois where they will face fourth-ranked Wheaton College on Wednesday, September 24. Action is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
