INDIANAPOLIS (Blugolds.com) – The NCAA has released the winners and final standings for the 2020 NCAA wrestling awards, with Blugold Evan Lawrence (Jr. - Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi) making the Top 10 in Division III for total falls.
Lawrence finished eighth in the nation with 19 falls with a total time of 37.50. Competing at 174 pounds, the junior qualified for the NCAA Championships after a third place finish at the Upper Midwest Regional. At the WIAC Championships, he was the runner-up at 174. Lawrence finished his 2020 campaign with a record of 30-6.
The three awards, given in each division, honor the Most Dominant Wrestler as well as the student-athletes who have accumulated the most falls and the most technical falls throughout the course of the regular season, conference tournaments and NCAA super regionals.
For falls and tech falls to be counted for the awards they must come against opponents in the same division (i.e., Division III vs. Division III). Ties in the two categories are broken based on the aggregate time.
