Blugolds record 5 pins in 39-12 win over Nebraska Wesleyan

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team recorded five pins on their way to defeating Nebraska Wesleyan by a score of 39-12 Friday night.

Results

Jack Marley (So. – Trempealeau/GET) got the Blugolds on the board first with a tech fall (15-0, 5:00) over Tyler Laudick at 125.

At 149, Jake Drexler (So. - Stratford) tallied the first pin of the night, defeating Brayden Dowding (2:46). Alfred Daniel (Jr. - Stewartville, MN) followed with a major decision win at 157 over Zeth Gerkensmeyer (9-1).

Eau Claire would then record four straight pins. Chase Schmidt (Jr. – Rice Lake) downed Nathan Hunt in 1:52 at 165 while Evan Lawrence (Jr. - Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi) defeated Daniel Alonzo at 174 (1:41). Chase Melton (Fr. - Spooner, WI) pinned Anthony Stege at 184 (1:04) and Mason Hawkins (Jr. – Farmington, MN) earned the final Blugold pin of the night, taking down Asher Gagnon at 197 (2:12).

The win improves Eau Claire's dual record to 12-4 on the season while Nebraska Wesleyan falls to 5-5. The Blugolds will be back on the mat Saturday as they host the Don Parker Open in the McPhee Center. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m.
