EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team hosted UW-Oshkosh in their home-opener on Wednesday where the Blugolds tallied a 25-9 win over the Titans.
The Blugolds started strong, with Jack Marley (So. – Trempealeau/GET) winning by major decision (19-9) over Denis Murphy at 125. Eau Claire would go on to win the next six bouts, three of which by major decision:
125 – Jack Marley (So. – Trempealeau/GET) over Denis Murphy (UWO), MD 19-9
133 – Thomas Severson (So. - Marathon/D.C. Everest) over AJ Schoenfuss (UWO), Dec. 12-9
141 – Tyler Demo (So. – Loves Park, IL/Belvidere North) over Kobe Allen (UWO), MD 13-0
149 – Jake Drexler (So. - Stratford) over Keagan Lazar (UWO), Dec. 8-6
157 – Adam Rients (So. – Waterville, MN/WEM) over Nathan Arquinego (UWO), MD 12-3
165 – Chase Schmidt (So. Marathon/DC Everest) over Muzi Siseltha (UWO), MD 13-2
174 – Evan Lawrence (Jr. - Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi) over Jordan Blanchard (UWO), Dec. 5-2
The Titans would take the final three bouts by decision, but would it would not be enough as the Blugolds earned the win in the fourth annual Chancellor's Cup. With the victory, the Chancellor's Cup series is now tied at 2 apiece.
