EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire wrestling team earned National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America honors this week.

As a team, the Blugolds earned a team grade point average of 3.44, ranking them 25th in the nation, their first time appearing amongst the Top 25 out of the 109 NCAA Division III wrestling programs in the country.
The team GPA is calculated by averaging the GPA of ten wrestlers. At least six must have competed in regional and the others must have competed in at least 50 percent of the team's scheduled events.
In addition, four Blugolds were tabbed with individual Scholar All-America honors; Chase Melton (Fr. - Spooner, WI), Jack Marley (So. – Trempealeau/GET), Nicholas Starich (Fr. – Pewaukee, WI), Evan Lawrence (Jr. - Hugo, MN/Mahtomedi) and Tristan Massie (Fr. – Hillsdale, WI/Barron).
The individual Scholar All-Americans have at least a 3.2 GPA and meet one of the following wrestling criteria:
1. NCAA qualifier with a winning record
2. Finish in the top eight at Regionals with a winning record and appeared in at least half of a team's scheduled events
3. Won at least 2/3 of matches and appeared in at least half of a team's scheduled events
