MENOMONIE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire gymnastics team tallied their highest team score of the season on Friday night, recording a 181.600 to place fourth at the John Zuerlein Invitational, hosted by UW-Stout.
The Blugolds scored season highs on the uneven parallel bars (44.075) and the floor exercise (45.975).
Leading the way for Eau Claire on vault was Andrea Gessner (Jr. – Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) whose 9.425 put her in a tie for fourth place while Jordan Ehde (Sr. - Stillwater, MN) led the team on the floor exercise with a 9.325 to take 11th.
On bars, Danielle Malecha (So. - Inver Grove Heights, MN/Rosemount) was the highest Blugold finisher with an 8.950 to place 12th and she also led Eau Claire on the balance beam with a seventh place finish after scoring a 9.275.
The Blugolds will return to the McPhee Center March 7th as they host the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional.
