Softball Team Donates Time to Community in Arizona

TUCSON, Ariz. (Blugolds.com) - Last week during the UW-Eau Claire softball team's spring break trip to Arizona, the team not only came away with eight wins in 10 games but also made a contribution to the community.

On Wednesday, the Blugolds' only day without a game, the team helped at the Community Food Bank in Tucson. The food bank helps feed residents in Pima County.

Working three hours, the team boxed 1,048 boxes of food, weighing over 30,000. The bank prepares 5,000 boxes of food each month and 85 percent of the work done at the food bank is done by volunteers.

In the three-hour time period, the Blugolds set a record for most pallets loaded. They loaded 42 pallets while the previous record was 34.
