MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire softball pitcher Emma Wishau (Fr.-Waterford, Wis./Union) has been named a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today.
Pitching 12 innings in two of the Blugolds' four games during the week, Wishau won both games, which were shutouts, while the team finished with a 4-0 record, including two WIAC wins. For the week, she had a 0.00 ERA and batters hit just .119 against her. Against St. Mary's University (Minn.) April 21, Wishau struck out four batters and allowed just two hits as the Blugolds won 9-0 in five innings. Facing UW-Oshkosh April 23, she struck out five batters while giving up only three hits in a 2-0 victory. Pitching two complete games, she improved to 5-0 on the season.
