Men's Cross Country Finishes Second at SMU Invitational

WINONA, Minn. (Blugolds.com) – The UW-Eau Claire men's cross country team finished in second place out of seven teams at the 2012 Saint Mary's University No Limit Invitational today.

Eau Claire finished second with 44 points while Saint Mary's won the invitational with 37. UW-La Crosse was third with 45.

Six Blugolds finished in the top 16, led by Matt Cooper (Fr.-Ashwaubenon, Wis.). He took fifth overall with a time of 27:27.5.

Jeffrey Quednow (Jr.-Westboro, Wis./Rib Lake) finished just over three seconds later in sixth place while Erik Rosvold (So.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) was eighth with a time of 27:49.2.

Coming in 11th place was Steven Schimmel (Fr.-Stewartville, Minn./Mayo) with a time of 28:03.5 and Jordan Rathke (Fr.-Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) crossed the line less than four seconds after that in 14th place. Alex Cole (Jr.-Lakeville, Minn./North) came in 16th place with a time of 28:09.1.

Tomorrow, other members of the team will compete at the University of Minnesota's Roy Griak Invitational. The race is set to begin at 10:40 a.m.
